Some little things

I know we've been sort of inactive lately, it's mostly because of my job that has this project on a halt in terms of development. Currently, I was looking over the old engine and slowly having some features from it to the new one. It's mostly the mouse giving me problems haha.

But the good part is some things that I couldn't do from the old engine was don with the new engine. Except, I'm still having trouble importing some new stuff in...

I'll update you guys on that when I have the chance ;-;

  1. I commented earlier, but I guess it didn't take. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know I support what you're doing and hope you can find the time to finish. I look forward to playing when you do.

  3. I don't know if the others will agree with me here, but you should take your time. As long as this is still something you do out of love, then the end product will surely not disappoint! Good luck with your life, and everything! :)

  5. I've read pretty much the entire blog and I'm still not sure what exactly you're planning to release. Is it going to be a patch that just translates the game text to English? a patch that translates game text and also replaces the voice files with English ones? a patch that translates text, "dubs" the audio into English, and also replaces the images with better quality ones?
    You also mention coding new features and you have a poll asking what type of gameplay should be in it, which leads me to think you're going to release a whole game and not just a patch to existing game.
    You've been working on this for over a year and haven't released even a partial patch. Wouldn't it be better to finish the most important part (the translation) and THEN work on all the extras: image quality, voices, gameplay, etc?
    I'm also troubled by posts that seem to imply you aren't faithfully translating it, but are changing dialogue to be more in character. I'm no translation pro, but doesn't this add more complexity?
    I don't mean to be a bitch but it seems like you're overcomplicating things...

    1. We're rewriting the text in a sense they sound more in-character but at the same time staying true to the story. We also added a few scenes to just break the monotone of the days, it's something you have to see and read to understand ;w;

      Another thing would be we had to change engines for a couple of reasons. The old engine isn't really ideal for New OS because it's outdated. It has a pretty bad way of handling scenes and gets confusing after a while. Such examples are rewriting the same scenes over and over again in different days making the script looks so long until we realize we're translating the same script. The variable handling is confusing too. The system and control navigation is reallllly slow. The text also doesn't display properly and we couldn't figure out a way on how to change it.

      That's why we called it a Rebuild.

    2. Oh and we had to edit the images to high res them a bit, that way they look cleaner and not ridden with JPG artifacts. Overall, think of it as BBI HD-fied with extra content.
